Breast Cancer Module I: Breast Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology

Breast cancer is the most commo n cancer to occur among women in the U.S; 12.3% of all women are expected to develop this malignancy in their lifetime.  Nurses provide case management services for the BreastCare program clients.  Understanding breast anatomy, physiology and pathology is essential for the follow-up of abnormal findings.  New methods of prognostic and predictive factors require that healthcare personnel involved in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of breast cancer receive updated continuing education.
